Blog > Silk Ribbon Embroidery by Ajitha Joseph

a beautiful piece by Ajitha Joseph from Bangalore in India. Don’t you just love it?

Ajitha ordered the Cadillac kit from us and we sent it to Bangalore and this is what she made. I just love this design and the way she used thread and ribbon so well.

I asked Ajitha to write a little about herself and this is what she wrote:

I live in the south of India and am a single mother. I work in a software company but with the onset of the COVID virus, all of us are home-bound.
Previously I have done some bits of embroidery here and there, but never of this magnitude.  I fell in love with silk embroidery when I saw it at my friend's house.  I was determined to try doing one but once the order was delivered, it seemed so complex and I was too overwhelmed.. so I shelved the project.  However thanks to the pandemic and the lockdown, everything changed.  Time hangs heavy and I decided to change it to do something productive.  Once I got going, it completely enraptured me and I fell in love with the sheer beauty of the silk ribbons and threads as it took shape in front of me.  I was completely absorbed in my project and gave me such a sense of accomplishment.  Never did I think I had it in me to do something so magical.. what an experience.   Thank you, Di for helping me believe in myself and now I can't wait to order more.  Are you taking orders now and will they get delivered on time due to the current situation?  Do let me know.

I also wanted to add that while stitching the car bit, I personalized it by putting in my dad's first car licence number... as it brought back lots of good warm memories of my childhood and outings as a family in the car.

I love your stitching, Ajitha and congratulations on what I believe will be a beautiful family heirloom! Thank you for sharing your talent with us

For enquiries about this lovely kit, please feel free to contact us.

Happy weekend everyone and stay safe!
