I asked Irina to tell us something about herself and she replied:

“I was born and raised in Ukraine. Now I have been living and working in beautiful and picturesque Hungary for over 30 years. I have been interested in embroidery since childhood, but I have been doing ribbon embroidery since 2011.

My passion for ribbon embroidery began with a simple interest in three-dimensional paintings that look like real ones. Admiring the works of other masters, I decided to try to create something similar with my own hands. First, I bought the most necessary materials: wide-eyed needles, satin and silk ribbons of different shades, base fabric and several patterns.

My passion for ribbon embroidery became especially deep after I became acquainted with the works of Di Van Niekerk. When I first saw her creations, I was amazed at how lively and detailed the embroidered paintings can be. Her technique is a whole art, where ribbons turn into real flowers, grasses and landscapes filled with volume and natural beauty.

Thanks to the work of Di Van Niekerk, I not only learned to embroider with ribbons, but also understood that embroidery can be a full-fledged art, expressing emotions and conveying mood. Now I am inspired by her works in each of my projects, adding something new and of my own
