Making stems from wire To add dimension and structure to a flower, wire can be used to form free-standing stems which are raised off from the surface of the design. For each stem you will need: 10 to 13 cm (4 to 5 inches) of 0.3 mm beading wire 20 cm (8 inches) of green 2 mm silk ribbon no. 25 and a glue stick used for school projects with glue.
