Luciana Maluf and her Beautiful Mix of Brazilian and Ribbon Embroidery

Today I have a beauty to inspire you by a talented embroiderer from Brazil and her name is Luciana Maluf. Luciana wrote:

“I began with ribbon embroidery using the eBooks I’ve bought from your site: Floral Vista, A Perfect World in Ribbon Embroidery and Silk Ribbon Embroidery. I really loved them and felt so inspired! The embroidery stitches I also incorporate from your books: the fly stitches and loose French knots for the tree, the loop stitch at the grass, the shadows. I believe the “movement “of the ribbon, its lightness is what I like the most, as I am a ballet dancer. I ‘ve been working at a new project, also with ribbon embroidery, with a bit more of technique, I will send you some photos when I finish.”

I asked Luciana to write more about her embroidery journey and she replied:

“I am Brazilian, and a ballet dancer. My mom and grandmother taught me to embroider when I was young, it used to be a strong tradition in Brazil, and for the last ten years, I have been embroidering quite professionally.

I love to learn different techniques to enrich my embroidery and enable me to be more creative and inspired. And I believe ribbon embroidery is lovely with Brazilian embroidery as we can create many different textures.”

Thank you, dear Luciana, for sharing your talent with us and we look forward to seeing more of your creations in the future.

Have a lovely week everyone and happy stitching!

Love

Di
