Workshops in Hawaii in 2021

Who feels like joining me in Honolulu, Hawaii?

I have more good news. Together with Inspirations Magazine and Needlework Tours Pty. Ltd. Based in Melbourne, Australia, I have been invited to teach at their Inaugural World Needlework Convention to be held in Hawaii from

This International premier nine-day forum will be an international stage for some of the best tutors in the world and promises to be a very exciting event with 21 fabulous tutors representing the UK, Australia, New Zealand & The United States as well myself from South Africa.

We are still finalising the projects that I will be teaching in Hawaii. One of them is this lovely handbag made from African mohair and embellished with gorgeous silk ribbon roses and wildflowers.

And the plan is to teach a landscape. I like this one—the Dream Cottage—but it’s not finalised yet and we may choose a different landscape. I will keep you posted. Please, subscribe to my blog to stay in touch, or join me on Instagram or Facebook for the latest updates and other creative ideas.

A Nice Challenge!

Do you feel like a fun challenge?

I have licensed this gorgeous design and it’s just perfect for all kinds of creative embroidery.

Why not join the challenge? The challenge is for all stitchers out there to test their boundaries and to create something wonderful to share with other embroiderers across the world.

The only condition is that we all work on a similar printed fabric, a beautiful linen fabric that we will

print for you in full colour. After that, the sky is the limit! You can use anything you like, any stitch or technique, any kind of thread, silk ribbon, yarn, roving, fabric, whatever takes your fancy.

The winners will be announced a week or two after the challenge ends on 31 May 2020.

So, there’s lots of time, it’s not a large design (14 cm or 5.5” square) AND you will inspire so many people because every single entry will be shared on my blog and social media.

Read more about the fun challenge here and you can buy the linen panel here.

If you would like me to assemble ribbons for you that will be suitable for this design, you are welcome to contact us with your request and Sumi will add the ribbons that I packed for you and she will include the printed panel. Sumi will send a request for payment via PayPal or PayFast.

♥ Have fun!

Useful information

John James Needles wrote to tell me about their Useful Needle Guide that they have recently updated. It’s a wonderful resource and you can download it here. All the needles are actual size when the guide is printed on A4 size paper. I am a big fan of their needles and we have designed a multi- purpose pack with almost every needle you will ever need for creative and ribbon embroidery. You will find it here. Enjoy!

Till next time .... happy stitching, lekker borduur!
